  • Safety Accessories for Tidland Knifeholders and Blades

There is no acceptable level of accidents, one is too many. That’s why we think about safety issues with every product we make. Innovations like our new blade guard provide extra protection and can be easily retrofitted to any Tidland slitter. Tidland Knifeholders feature a removable cartridge so blades can be more safely changed on a workbench. When you choose Tidland, you’ve made safety a key part of your selection criteria.

    360 Degree Blade Guard
The 360 degree blade guard protects an operator from sharp blades while handling knifeholders off of the machine. Available for Class I, Class II, and Class III Tidland Knifeholders.

Bench Mount Fixture and Safety Gloves
Tidland’s convenient bench-mount fixture mounts easily to any workbench with two screws. It features a dovetail guide bar to hold the knifeholder cartridge securely and free up operator hands while performing basic maintenance on the knifeholder. Tidland safety gloves help to protect operator hands when working with sharp blades.

    Blade Guard Attachments
Retrofit existing e-Knifeholders, Performance Series, Series C and other knifeholders with a low-cost blade guard to reduce operator injury. This guard is an inexpensive way to minimize the risk of operator injury while upper and lower knives are engaged. Each blade guard attaches directly to the existing knifeholder, acting as an extension to alert operators when they are too close to the blade, giving them more time to react.

  • Fife SE-11 Infrared Sensor

The SE-11 is the smallest of our infrared sensors. Its compact size and light weight make this sensor ideal for applications where accuracy is required, but space is limited. The SE-11 has a standard sensing gap of 1.0”, a control range of 0.20”, and is available in a 1% temperature compensated version. The optical design of the SE-11 allows for output linear to the web position in the control range, making it virtually unaffected by plane change. When used with CDP- 01 or POLARIS web guide controllers, the SE-11 is capable of guiding clear films with an opacity <10%.

  • Fife DSE-17 Wide Band Infrared Sensor

The DSE-17 is a digital wide proportional band infrared sensor. The sensor is most suitable for applications where opacity or density variations may occur, such as tissue, non-woven, textile, paper, foil, and for many opaque films. It can track up to 4 independent web edges simultaneously.

When web width variations exist, the wide proportional band of the DSE-17 sensor eliminates the need for the manual repositioning of the sensor.

Thanks to its IP-65 rating the DSE-17 can be installed even in the presence of water spray or condensation. The digital technique is immune to higher levels of contamination, compared with traditional analog sensors. The contamination of the sensor acrylic window can be monitored via a proportional analog output signal. An air sweep system is available as an option. In addition the DSE-17 sensor is protected against the influence of ambient light.
